The Invitation Permanent installation Ellis Hospital Schenectady, NY 1999 Painting commissioned by the Ellis Foundation for installation in their hospital's Adolescent Treatment Center foyer where families gather to await notifications from hospital staff.

Through my art, I endeavor to defuse the hegemonic atmosphere pervading certain healthcare facilities which create an illusion that we are powerless during times of stress and must submit entirely to the will of an institution.

I incorporated small, linear images of animals resembling petroglyphs, concealing the shapes in tonal color fields. These elements give patients and families a focus during stressful waiting periods.
